Contraindications - When Should Microneedling Not Be Performed?
- Sunburn
- Severe skin infections (e.g., herpes) in the area to be treated
- Wounds and significant skin irritations in the area to be treated
- Directly after aesthetic surgeries or other surgical interventions in the area to be treated
- Taking strongly blood-thinning medications
- Coagulation disorders, which also increase the risk of post-bleeding
- Tendency to form keloids (raised scars)
Before and After Microneedling - What Should I Consider?
Before Microneedling
Avoid sunbathing in the days before and use a high SPF.
After Microneedling
Refrain from sports and sauna on the day of the treatment.
Avoid sunbathing and tanning beds in the following weeks.
Use only an alcohol-free hyaluronic serum for care after the treatment, avoid irritating skincare.
In the following weeks, be sure to use a sunscreen with at least SPF 50+.
Possible Side Effects and accompanying Effects
Immediately after microneedling, your face may be red. However, you’ll be socially presentable the next day. If the skin is still red, you can easily cover the areas with makeup. Swelling may occur with very sensitive or irritated skin, which can be covered with camouflage or powder. Bruising may occur but is relatively rare. In deep treatments, there may be oozing skin areas or crust formation, which will heal on its own in the following days. After the treatment, use only an alcohol-free hyaluronic serum for care and avoid any irritating skincare.
